| John's mother died when he was very young and he was raised by his father, who was very wealthy and controlling. Originally intending to spite his father and drop out of school, he finishes University and joins the Air Force, not being able to stay away from anything with wings... He's a kind man, but very stubborn and horrendously difficult besides. He has a bit of a hero complex and will run into a burning building for someone he's barely met (or hasn't!) He seems fearless, but we know better... He prefers 'Colonel' or 'Sheppard' as 'John' and 'Shep' are reserved for the closest of friends. But if you were to ask outright, he'd let you call him by name. And if you're Tony Despite all his beef with "The Man" his proudest moment was being promoted to Lieutenant Colonel as he never expected to make it that far. John has five(?) verses now, and the information on that can be found HERE in a future-dated post. In the verse I use most, he is about to enter a relationship with McKay as played by ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} im_with_genius and he's set around Season 4 (ish). Also, because of Iron Man and the wondrous crack that is ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} sixwordstories, Arc Reactors have created a way for the Atlantis crew to travel back to Earth freely. But they need good reasons and security clearance and any "vacation" time they take could spell disaster for any career they could have had on Atlantis.
